These virtual seminars are designed to enhance participants\u2019 comprehension of International Relations (IR) theories, global political dynamics, geopolitics, foreign policy analysis, and related domains within the field of IR. Through scholarly lectures delivered by eminent and emerging academics, coupled with expert-led discussions, participants are welcomed to engage in interactive sessions that offer critical insights into the theoretical frameworks and practical applications of IR.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The seminar will take place on\u00a0<strong>December 16, 2024<\/strong>\u00a0at:\u00a0<strong>17:00 CET \u2013 18:00 EET \u2013 19:00 TRT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Seminar Speaker:<br \/>\n<strong>Bezen Balamir Co\u015fkun, Ph.D.\u00a0<\/strong>TED University \u2013 INTPOLSEC<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4015 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/wwwdev-idos-gr.sociality.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Bezen.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"164\" height=\"212\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Regendering IR, Rethinking Women, Peace and Security Agenda<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In her book\u00a0<em>Bananas, Beaches and Bases\u00a0<\/em>(1989), Cynthia Enloe asked the question: \u201cWhere are the women?\u201d (in international politics). Her question was a stark reminder of the lack of feminist approaches to International Relations (IR). Enloe and other feminist scholars have revealed how IR theories explain security through the eyes and sensibilities of men. In this context, feminist scholars have criticized the absence of the gender dimension in the dominant theories and practices of IR. In this lecture, the discipline\u2019s main paradigms, including the feminist approach, are critically reviewed. In this review, a particular emphasis is placed on the UN\u2019s landmark resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security, which is considered a significant international gender equality initiative and a challenge to the conventional global peace and security architecture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bezen Balamir Co\u015fkun<\/strong>\u00a0is an International Relations scholar from T\u00fcrkiye who has been conducting research on different aspects of international studies with a particular emphasis on security studies, conflict analysis and conflict resolution. Since 2005, Dr. Co\u015fkun has engaged in research and analysis both as a researcher in several research centers and as a Lecturer in higher education institutions. She received her Ph.D. in International Relations from Loughborough University in the UK and a Master\u2019s degree in Development and International\u00a0Studies\u00a0from Aalborg University in Denmark. She is teaching currently at TED University in T\u00fcrkiye as Adjunct Professor and is coordinating the Izmir Policy Center Platform. A recurrent theme of her research is the humanitarian aspects of international security with a particular emphasis on the gender aspects of conflicts and post-conflict processes.
